As promised, a brand new review!
This new company is a part of SRJacobs & Company, which aims to "showcase the strengths of resources in poorer countries."
Plucker's Pick sells exclusively single estate teas from Sri Lanka (formerly referred to as Ceylon, which persists in the name of teas from this region.)
My first review is of the Homadola Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe (FBOP). I have brewed it several times now, and until I run out, it has become my morning tea of choice. I have brewed it in my
Zarafina, my
IngenuiTEA, and in my cast iron teapot. In the latter two cases, I brewed it for three minutes. In the Zarafina, I chose medium strength, my standard for new teas.
The leaves were in good condition, with a wonderful aroma as soon as I opened the foil packaging. The resulting liquor was a bright gold, with a delightful flavor that was bold enough for my early morning tastes, but light enough that I don't mind a cup at all in the afternoon either.
One thing that's nice about single estate teas is that you can learn about where your tea is coming from:
The Homadola Garden enjoys temperatures in the mid-70s, and is 20 miles away from the Indian Ocean, which can be seen on a clear day.
All of the teas are packaged in Sri Lanka, promising freshness. This promise is well-kept.
