Black Tea

Thanks to Tea Guy...

Tea Guy Speaks is one of my favorite blogs to read, in part because of the wide variety of subjects he covers, but also because he believes in posting humorous bits as well. I unabashadly steal this link about a teashop run by a dictator, because I found it amusing and hope you will as well.

Starbucks Black Tea Latte

I'm not a big fan of Tazo, as I may have mentioned before. Paper teabags in paper boxes do not equal freshness.

But, the culture is such that I frequent Starbucks occasionally, and as I am not a coffee drinker, I usually get tea in some form, either hot or iced, or with lemonade. Today, while with my sister, we stopped at Starbucks, and I stared at the menu for a moment, looking for inspiration, and saw something new: Tea Lattes. I'd tried their matcha latte before, and had not been too impressed, but decided that the black tea would be worth a try. They also have red tea lattes.

The first taste was surprising. For one thing, I'm not used to foam with my tea. Billed as a blend of five teas, my guess would be that at least one is an Assam, for it had a very strong taste. I drank it, but am not sure if I would order it again.

I watched it being prepared. It comes with the Classic sugar syrup, which I requested to be left off. The tea itself is a concentrate, so the actual beverage is mostly milk, just like your average latte.

Personally, I prefer my tea the normal way. But, in a pinch, it will do. Tazoblack_162x162
