Snowmageddon

The snow has just started here in Northern Virginia as we buckle down for a foot or three of snow to hit the area.  Mr. Tea Scoop and I are packing up and heading over to my sister's house for games, hot cocoa, tea tastings, and a hot fire.  

I think I posted a Snow Ice Cream recipe on here before, but just in case, here you go.  This is your last chance to run to the store for evaporated milk!

I'm endlessly fascinated by all the different ways that people think of to drink their tea, and how these tastes become embedded in culture.  I wrote an article about these preferences that was published on the blog of the English Tea Store (same ownership as the English Tea Blog).

The British East India Company

In case you don't follow the English Tea Blog, I recently wrote two articles for those folks about the history of the British East India Company as it related to tea. It was a two part article, which you can read here and here. Tea and the fate of the company were inextricably intertwined. 

Just a note, the East India Trading Company in Pirates of the Caribbean was a fictional company loosely based on the actual company.  Read the Wikipedia article about the fictional company for more information.
