My Photo

I had my first tea party at the age of five, with iced tea, and started drinking hot tea soon after that. My first love was Bigelow's Cinnamon Stick.

About five years ago, I discovered the joys of loose leaf tea for the first time, and since then have been dedicated to the pursuit of tea, to the point of working for a chain of tea stores and then working to host tea parties at a small cafe.

In my other life, I'm a history major and sixth grade teacher, and love reading about history. My favorite period is the 18th century, particularly in Scotland and the United States.

I also spend much of my time entertaining my dog, Genny, who is a 4 year old Belgian Malinois. She likes tea too! As a puppy, she used to steal teabags from the trash, rip them open, and lick the leaves off the floor. Those were the days when I considered leaving traps of chamomile for her in the hopes of sedating her slightly. Her favorite place to go now (besides the dog park) is Lake Anne Coffeehouse, a cafe with an outdoor patio where I can drink tea and she can watch passersby.

More recently, I have shared my love of tea with my husband, who likes Irish Breakfast, Assam, and Darjeeling. He leaves the Jasmine and Earl Greys to me!
